From the Desk of Mrs. Mungin

From Mrs. Mungin, our Music Specialist:

Hello Parents!
This week your child is responsible for practicing all their Recorder Karate songs.  Orange logs will be sent home this rotation and should be returned in 6 days with a parent signature for each day your child practice.  Students will receive $5 in Mungin bucks for each day they practice and a grade of a 100.  Anything less than 6 days will result in a lower grade.  Students who do not bring their logs to class will receive a Think Sheet and CAN NOT bring in at a later time for credit.  Logs are due on time.  Thanks for encouraging your child to practice to increase their knowledge of music.

WINTERFEST, the Teasley Elementary School Christmas Tree Lighting, will be held December 3rd from 4-8.  This is a fun filled event for the whole family.  There will be food, games, holiday activities, pictures with Santa and performances that will include the Teasley Treble Tones.  If you are interested or know someone who would be interested in a vendor space please have them to submit an application for consideration using this link:
http://www.musicatteasley.com/winterfest
Deadline for applications is November 18th.  Thanks for supporting the Teasley Treble Tones!

Regards,
Mrs. Mungin

Bus Routes

As many of you know, Teasley has added a new bus and many of our bus routes have changed. That means that your child may now be riding a new bus. The new bus routes were effective today and we as a school are taking precautions to ensure that your child makes it onto the right bus at the end of the day. To check and see if your bus route has changed, please go onto the Cobb County website. All addresses have been updated with the new routes (if a change has been made).

Recorder Logs for Music: A Message from Mrs. Mungin

Dear Parents,

I hope that you are enjoying the recorder playing you are hearing around your house these days.  This rotation all students have a YELLOW recorder log to turn in.  6 days is required 15 minutes a day.  Students should be practicing 3 songs.  When they return to music class they will do group testing on all songs to receive their recorder karate belts.  Failure to complete this assignment will result in a non-passing grade.  Parents please encourage your child to practice by signing their logs.  I appreciate your help.

REMEMBER PRACTICE MAKE A GREAT GRADE!!!

Thanks,

Ms. Mungin

Agendas and Behavior

I would like to try an easier way for parents to quickly check their child’s behavior in class. I am going to start marking with a colored marker in the students’ agendas at the end of every day with the color that they end on. For example, a student who ended their day on blue will have a blue mark in their agenda for that day. I hope this will provide you all with a quick and easy way to take a glimpse at your child’s daily behavior.

Of course, I will continue to update Class Dojo as well. Thank you for being flexible with me as I try out different ways to communicate with my parents. I am doing all that I can to keep you informed of your child’s performance in school. 🙂

Here are a few updates about things that are going on in our classroom and school the next couple of weeks.

Fire Safety Village

Our first field trip is scheduled for Monday, October 10th.  Permission slips went home before break, so please try to return them by Friday.  Students who do not turn this slip in will not be able to attend the trip. A medical treatment agreement waiver is also being sent home today. Please have this returned by Friday as well.

For the fire safety visit, students must bring their lunch in a disposable plastic, or paper bag.  NO LUNCH BOXES.  If students have to purchase a lunch from school, they will have the opportunity to do so, but it is suggested that you bring a lunch if possible.

Students need to wear standard attire, but please make sure that they are wearing pants, shorts, or leggings that are easy to move around in.  There are a few activities that require bending, jumping, climbing, and rolling. I would also suggest that students wear comfortable shoes, such as tennis shoes.

Conference Week
Conference week is nearly upon us. The official dates for conference week are October 17-21. Students will be released from school 2 hours early every day during this week. Forms are being sent home with your students today that indicate your assigned date and time for your parent/teacher conference. Please fill out the bottom half of the form and return it to school. You may keep the top half as a reminder of your scheduled conference.
During conference week we will be having our book fair! You are more than welcome to visit the book fair before or after your conference. You may also send you child to school with money for the book fair. They will be allowed to visit in the mornings.

A Message from the Media Center

Please be mindful of library books. Many books have been returned to the library wet or damaged and have incurred fines and charges. Help your student keep library books in good condition. Remember to keep water bottles and food containers out of backpacks to prevent accidents. I encourage you to read with your child over the Fall break and visit the public library.  Assist your child in choosing appropriate and interesting books.

Thank you!  Ms. Crosby

Those are all of the updates for today (or that I can think of in this moment!). Feel free to email me with questions about anythings!

Have a great afternoon! 🙂

Welcome Back!

Happy Monday! I hope everybody enjoyed their Fall Break. I have a few updates about what is going on in our classroom these next couple of weeks.

Today, we are anticipating a fun visit from some firefighters to go over fire safety rules. This is in preparation for our trip to the Fire Safety Village on October 10th. If you have not done so already, please sign the permission slip sent home with your student and return to school ASAP. This is going to be an exciting field trip!

Here is what curriculum we are currently working on in class:

Math- Area and Perimeter

Reading- Text structure (chronological order, cause/effect, comparison)

Writing- Informational writing about Native Americans

Language Arts/Grammar- Fragments and Run-Ons

REMINDER ABOUT LUNCH MONEY! Please send lunch money to school in a sealed envelope clearly labeled with student name, grade, teacher, purpose, and amount of money enclosed. Lunch money will not be received without an envelope.

That’s all the reminders for right now. Have a wonderful week!
