Our First Blog Post!

Hello Parents and Students!

We had a wonderful first day today! All of the students were absolutely amazing and did a great job adjusting to their new classroom! I can tell this is going to be a great year for all of us.

There are a few things that I want to remind you of, especially those who did not get the chance to come to Open House last week.

Students should be writing in their agendas daily. I check them every afternoon and leave a colored mark indicating the color on the behavior chart that he/she ended their day on. I am asking that you sign their agenda nightly so that I am able to know whether or not the agenda was seen by you. The agenda is also a great place to find out what we are doing that week! If students have anything due or any tests coming up, it will be indicated in the agenda. I will also update the blog weekly with those dates. You may also contact me through the agenda.

A Cobb County folder was sent home today with your student. Please fill out the required paperwork inside of the folder and send back to school sometime this week. There are TWO emergency contact forms inside of the folder. Please fill out both! If you were not able to make it to Open House, I have stuck the Open House forms in the folder as well. Please fill out those and return.

As some parents suggested at Open House, I am moving snack to the end of the day. We will now have our snack during our recess time.

Please check your student’s GREEN folder nightly for returned/important papers or things that need to be signed. There may not be something sent home every single day, but anything that is sent home to stay and anything that is sent home and to be returned to school will be placed in the green folder. Students will also place any projects/homework in their green folder.

We will start curriculum next week. This week will be focused on learning our classroom and school procedures.

Your student’s “homework” for this week is to create an All About Me bag! Students will place 5 items that describe them in a bag. I would recommend using a reusable or plastic grocery bag, but any bag that’s not too large is acceptable. On Friday, students will share the items in their bag to the class and describe what it means to them. Please do not send in valuable items or items that are easily breakable! This fun assignment is due on Friday!

One last thing: It would really help me out if everyone could write in their child’s agenda how they are going home this week, and also just a quick note about their method of transportation for the entire year. It needs to be ONE method of transportation (bus, car/walker, or ASP). I know that it is often that during the first week of school, transportation is different than the rest of the year. Having it written down will save me a lot of confusion and worry!

That’s all for now. I will update you on curriculum starting next week. Please don’t hesitate to email me or send a Remind message if you have any questions/concerns!

It’s going to be a great year!

-Ms. Allison
