8/31/17 Annoucement

Hi all,

I got caught up in a meeting during my planning time today, so I did not have time to mark behavior colors in the agendas. I asked students to just write their color in their agenda for today. Tomorrow morning, I will give students the money they earned from today.

Thank you for understanding.

Donate to Help Hurricane Harvey Victims

Hi everybody.

As I’m sure everyone has heard, a disastrous hurricane has recently struck Houston, Texas. The cost of damages currently sits at $160 BILLION dollars, and have left people with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Homes, neighborhoods, and communities have been destroyed. Families who have lost everything have no choice but to start over. It’s hard to imagine going through something so life changing.

We can help. Teasley, and myself, are committed to reaching out and helping the victims of Hurricane Harvey make a new start. We can do this simply by donating some new and gently used items.

Here are a list of items that we will gladly accept for donation:

  • Children’s clothes
  • Adult clothes
  • Socks
  • Shoes
  • Diapers (children and adult)
  • Blankets
  • Canned goods

Have any old clothes laying around just waiting to be carried off to Goodwill? Send them in to us! If you wish to donate diapers, please donate only boxes/packs that have been unopened. All of the donations that we receive will be hand-delivered to the American Red Cross, an organization that is currently working to aid victims of Hurricane Harvey.

If you wish to donate financially, please visit the American Red Cross website or text REDCROSS to 90999 to donate $10.

Help us help others. Please bring in any items you wish to donate to families in Houston who need our support.

Thank you all so much!

-Ms. Allison

Week of August 28th Update

Hi everybody! Here are a couple of reminders for this week:

  • Please remember that this Wednesday is early release. Students will be dismissed at 12:30.
  • This Friday is a dress down day for $1. Students can bring in $1 to donate to our PTA and dress down for that day! Please make sure that dress down outfits are school appropriate!

Now here’s our weekly classroom update!

Reading: In reading this week, we are focusing on finding the Point of View of a text (first person and third person). We will have a Point of View test on Friday.

Writing: We are still working on narrative writing this week.

Science: Our focus is science this week is on extreme weather. There will be a test on Friday on weather, climate, weather tools, and extreme weather. A study guide will be sent home tomorrow, and students can also study their science notebooks! (Social studies will be coming soon!)

Math: Today and tomorrow, we are still practicing our strategies for rounding numbers. We will take our test on rounding on Wednesday. Then for the remainder of the week, we will shift our focus to addition using the standard algorithm.

Spelling: Spelling words this week are words with the long e sound. Students have spelling word packets to study and can also play games/study using my Spelling City page. Like always, our spelling test will be on Friday.

**IMPORTANT**

Progress reports will be sent home this week (I will send out an email blast on the actual day they go home). I am in the process of grading work/tests from last week, and will have them in the gradebook before progress reports go home. When you receive your child’s progress report, please sign the form and return it back to me. There will be a place on the form for you to write a note to me with any questions or concerns you may have about a grade. If you leave me a note, I will be sure to contact you through email regarding your question or concern as soon as I can.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week! Thank you for continuing to be so, so supportive!

-Ms. Allison

A Message from Our Media Specialist

Hello Parents,

Your child’s classroom teacher may implement a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) initiative sometime during the school year. Participation in the BYOD is completely voluntary. Students who bring their own devices will be guided by their teacher in its use within the classroom. BYOD programs enhance the learning process by providing additional resources to participating students. These initiatives also encourage and support responsible use of electronic devices in our ever-expanding digital age. If you have any questions about the BYOD program, you are invited to a meet with our Library Media Specialist on August 23rd from 8:00 to 9:00 AM in the Professional Learning room located in the Front Office area. Ms. Crosby will be glad to tell you more about how classrooms utilize devices brought from home and answer any other questions.

-Amy Crosby, Media Specialist
