Today was the day of our Student Council elections. The prepared speeches I heard today were all amazing and I am so proud of every one of my students who ran in the election. After listening to each student present, the students voted on who they would most like to be our Student Council representatives. Congratulations to our new representatives, Luke and Shamiyah!
We officially have one more week until Fall Break! This means that this week is jammed packed with lots of learning (especially since we missed two days last week). Here is what we will be doing this week:
Reading: We will be studying the differences between drama, poetry, and prose. Students will be given mini anchor charts to take home to study in order to prepare for the test on Friday.
Writing: We are continuing to work on our Narrative writing pieces.
Social Studies: This week we will finish up our study of Native American tribes. Students have completed a chart, as well as a Native American Tribes book. Students should be taking these two things home to study. We will have our test on Friday.
Math: In math this week, we will also be finishing up addition and subtraction using the standard algorithm. Our test on this will be on Friday, and I will be sending home a study guide tomorrow with every student. The study guide does not have to be turned in and will not be graded. We will also begin to talk about finding the perimeter of an object.
Spelling: Spelling words are back this week! Our words this week are months, days of the week, and titles. The spelling test will be on Friday. Spelling packets were given to students today and as always, the words are available to study on my Spelling City page.
Don’t forget that extra credit math projects will be due the Monday we return from break (October 2nd). No late projects will be accepted.
If you have any questions or need to reach me for any reason, please try to send me an email sometime this week. I will not be available to check my email over the Fall Break.
Thank you and have a wonderful rest of the week!
