Happy Labor Day!
We have a short 4-day week this week. Here is a quick update on what we will be doing. Due to the short week, there will be no tests this week (including Spelling). We will spend this week doing a couple of in-class projects.
Reading: Our focus in reading this week is making connections between written, visual, and oral versions of a text. We have been reading the book Wonder. On Friday, students will create a movie poster advertisement for Wonder. This will be an in-class project and will be taken as a grade. Students will be given a rubric to make sure that their poster has all of the necessary requirements.
Writing: During writing time, we will continue working on our Narrative writing pieces.
Social Studies: We are starting Social Studies this week! We will begin with our study on Native American tribes such as the Hopi, Pawnee, Kwakiutl, Nez Perce, and Inuit tribes.
Math: We will continue to practice addition using the standard algorithm. Throughout the week, students will work on in-class math projects.
Spelling: There will be no spelling words this week.
Please make sure to send back the signed progress report receipts. Also, study guides for makeup tests will be sent home sometime this week.
Enjoy the rest of your labor day!
