We are hoping for 100% class participation, so don’t forget to ask for those donations!

Tiger Trot!

Today begins a very important, fun, healthy was to raise support for Teasley Elementary!

We want to fund a new turf field for all students to use. Please help us reach our fundraising goal by supporting our Tiger Trot.

We have teamed up with The Get Movin’ Crew to make this event fun and easy to support. Please help us by helping your child gather pledge donations. Our goal is 100% participation. No amount is too small!

You can earn prizes! Students can earn prizes with donation amounts from $20-$1,000. Check out all of our cool prizes at the bottom of this page.

Follow these simple steps to pledge success:

  1. Register your child for the Tiger Trot by visiting
  2. Friends and family want to help your child be successful and share in their achievements. Use the fundraising page to promote online pledge donations using the email and social media tools right on their page. It’s easy!
  3. Watch your child’s Pledge Meter blast to the top fast! Most debit/credit cards are accepted from anywhere in the world. Check your child’s web page often to see all pledges they’ve received.
  4. Reach Pledge Superstar status by going above and beyond and fireworks ignite

Our total school goal is $40,000! $43 per student would get us to our GOAL!

Event details:

  • Date: Friday, November 10th
  • Final pledge due date: Friday, November 17th
  • Share your child’s fundraising page with friends and family.
  • Pledges in the form of cash and checks should be turned in to the school. Please make checks payable to: Teasley Elementary PTA

Veteran’s Day Celebration

Good Day Teasley Parents,

We are gearing up for our annual Veteran’s Day Celebration.  Our fabulous students will entertain us with song, dance and spoken word as we honor those who have served our country.  All are welcome to attend our celebration November 2nd at 6:30 in the Teasley Gym.

We would love to recognize moms, dads, grandparents, aunts and uncles, neighbors and family friends who have served in any branch of the military at our program.  If you know of anyone who would be a great honoree, please have them to sign up using the Google Link below.  We are hoping for a great turn out.  It will be an honor to see and shake hands of all who have served.

Deadline for honorees is November 1st.

Thank you so much for spreading the word about our program and we hope that you will join us.

This week is Red Ribbon Week! We celebrate Red Ribbon Week to encourage saying no to drugs. Students may participate by wearing fun clothes on the appropriate days. Here is the schedule for each day:

Monday: Wear a red shirt!

Tuesday: Wear a hat or baseball cap!

Wednesday: Wear your favorite sports team shirt!

Thursday: Wear mismatched or crazy socks!

Friday: $1 Dress Down, dress like a Superhero!

Remember that this Friday is also the Glow Party for 4th and 5th grades. Students may bring some extra money to the event if they wish to purchase any of the following:

  • $5: Light up fidget spinner
  • $2: Light up emoji ring, glow in the dark glasses, glow in the dark headbands, triple glow bracelet, etc.
  • $1: finger lights, glow sticks

*supplies are limited

And finally, here is an update for this week!

Reading: This week we are looking at non-fiction text features (titles, headings, graphs, charts, table of contents, glossary, diagrams, maps, etc.). We will have a test on Friday.

Writing: We are continuing to work on Opinion Writing.

Social Studies: Our study on European Explorers continues! We will have a test on Friday. A study guide has been sent home with students to help them be fully prepared.

Math: In math, we are moving onto factor pairs, as well as prime and composite numbers. Here is an example: The factors for 12 include 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 12. The number 12 has more than one pair of factors, so it is a composite number. No test this week. Please make sure that students are studying their facts each night (and please sign their practice logs). We will have drills each day and students are responsible for memorizing their facts on their own. Students who progress will receive a new set of flash cards from me to practice at home.

Spelling: Our spelling words this week are more words with the long i sound. Spelling packets were given to students, and they may also practice on my Spelling City page. We will have a test on Friday.

Please remember to turn in your field trip permission slips and payment. Also, if you did not attend conferences and received your child’s report card in an envelope, please make sure to return the signed envelope back to me as soon as possible.

Thank you all and have a wonderful week!

-Ms. Allison

Multiplication Practice and Drills

Dear Parents,

As many of you know, we have started our multiplication unit. The results of our first test have raised the concern that many students are still struggling with basic multiplication facts (a 3rd grade skill). Memorization of multiplication facts is imperative for success this quarter, as the multiplication tasks are going to become much more challenging. In order to combat this, we are going to begin having multiplication practice drills.

The children will be tested on all multiplication levels from x1 to x12. Please note that your child will be tested almost every day on their multiplication math facts. These drills will not be a grade. The speed at which your child progresses through the facts is up to him/her. Your child has one minute to complete 20 problems. He/she must get all 20 correct in order to move to the next level.

Starting Monday, October 23, practicing math facts is going to be a daily homework assignment. Please sign your child’s practice log to indicate that they are practicing each night. Logs will be checked daily. I will provide each student with a set of flashcards for each level that they are practicing for. Please help your child study his/her facts each night. Your child will be responsible to let you know what level he/she is on. For each new level they pass, they will receive a new set of flash cards to practice. If he/she pass their x1’s, they will get a set of x2’s. If they pass their x2’s, they will get a set of x3 flash cards to practice with. They will receive their new set of flash cards the day they pass their current level. Please keep all the cards in the baggie and send them with your child each day (they will be used during centers time throughout the year). The flash cards will be an invaluable tool for helping your child pass each level!

Towards the end of the quarter, I will host an ice cream party for the students who pass all the way to their 10’s. We will build ice cream sundae’s to celebrate all that we accomplished! The boys and girls who make it all the way to their x12’s will get both a sundae and an extra special privilege. Please help your child study their facts each night. Play games, race each other, and practice in the car. If you own a tablet, an iPad, computer, etc. there are many wonderful apps and sites your child can use to practice. The more at ease the children are with their facts, the better off they will be in math for the remainder of the year as well as the years following. Multiplication is MEMORIZATION!

Please use the first set of flashcards sent home with your child to help prepare your child for their first multiplication drill on Monday, October 23.

Thank you all so much for your continued support!

-Ms. Allison
